IM Technology introduces affordable diagnostic tool for the enthusiast and professional.
West DesMoines, Iowa - January 2002 - IM Technology officially introduces the IM AutoProbe, a Palm or
PC based automotive diagnostic tool. The availability of this revolutionary yet affordable tool gives
the professional technician as well as the automotive enthusiast an easy to use, generic, OBDII self diagnostic tool.
Since the introduction of the government-mandated OBDII diagnostic systems for all cars sold in the
United States since 1996, it has been nearly impossible for independent technicians or car owners to
self-diagnose trouble codes that trigger “Check Engine” lights. As automobiles have become more technically
complicated virtually all systems are now controlled through the vehicle’s onboard computer system.
The IM AutoProbe makes it possible for anyone with a PC or Palm device to read, interpret, and reset trouble codes.
Gaining access through the generic OBDII connector the IM AutoProbe uses the same technology as the expensive
stand-alone diagnostic tools, at a fraction of the cost. The IM AutoProbe is not meant as a replacement for
these expensive brand specific tools but as the first resource for problem diagnosis. With the use of the IM
IM AutoProbe software and connector cable anyone can communicate with the cars computer system. The IM AutoProbe
tool is available in a variety of configurations and is geared toward the do-it-yourselfer as well as the
professional technician for use a personal diagnostic tool.

The IM AutoProbe and its parent company IM Technology was started in 1999 by Siraj Podikunju, an IT software engineer.
Along the way Fred Bell, a financial and operations manager, and Doug Wittkowski, an automotive engineering technician,
joined the company and they all agreed that there was something missing in the automotive diagnostic tool market.
For this reason IM AutoProbe has been designed. The first truly affordable and fully capable OBD II diagnostic scan
tool. We believe this to be the solution for the average auto enthusiast as well as the professional technician
and that IM AutoProbe will become the diagnostic scan tool of choice.
We welcome suggestions, comments, and questions either by phone
or e-mail. Check back often for future enhancements of the IM
AutoProbe along with many more anticipated automotive related
technologies.
